AF canyon half marathon

So the half marathon was yesterday. I had lots of emotions leading up to the race. I was mostly nervous with a tad of excitement. I was up at 3:45 to make the bus ride up the canyon. The whistle blew (on time!) at 6:00 am. I was hoping to finish in under 2 hours. There was a pacer scheduled to finish at 1:55. I stuck with him for the first few miles, but even going down hill, I was starting to realize there was NO way I'd be able to keep up. I was already playing catch up then gradually trailing off from him. Then something strange happened between mile 4 and 7. I hit the biggest wall ever. I was feeling strange and not like myself at all. My good friend, Jayna, ran up to the mouth of the canyon and ran the last 5 with me. (she was needing a long run for her marathon training) I wanted to cry, but didn't have the energy to. I wanted to stop and sit on the side of the road. Instead of saying to myself "one more mile till..." I started saying "just to the next cone..." It was bad.

I was way behind my planned pace. So Taylor and the kids waited

and waited.
Finally I was in sight.

I felt like I was sprinting by. I gave it everything I could! (Taylor laughed later when I told him, "I wouldn't call that sprinting!!") Aren't those kids the cutest?? I love that Taylor and the kids make a big deal out of my accomplishments. They are the best cheerleaders!!

I still haven't looked up my chip time, but I finished with about the same time as my last one. 2:15. Obviously not my goal, but I am proud of myself that I kept going. My body was definitely off. I was blacking out, shaking, and was dizzy once I finished. I have a lot to learn about diet/liquid both before/during a race. So, I guess, learn and move on, right?!

Every penny from the registration fee went towards cancer patients in our area who can't afford treatment. I wore a pink ribbon in honor of my aunt who just had a double mastectomy due to breast cancer.

I am feeling it today. Beyond sore. Every where. Thanks again to Jayna for sticking by me, I would have been way worse off without her there.

Fun... check!

We've got lots checked off our fun list lately. We got 4 done today. Yep, I'm like mother of the year, now!!

Read lots of books. Check!

Feed the duck(s). Check! That one poor duck got scared off fast by those kids.

Hop scotch. Check! I even had fun doing this. The kids were so impressed with my skills!

Get ice cream from the ice cream truck. Check! I woke up Fisher and he jumped out of bed real fast when I said "ice cream." haha.

Go to a parade. Check! There was an all horse parade tonight, the kids LOVED it!

The girls

I'm not sure anything is sweeter than this! Oh, how I love her!

Here's a great example at how Kenadee got the nickname "monkey" before her first birthday. She has always been a very adventurous and athletic child. She climbs up the poles on my in-laws huge swing set, but today today she took it to another level. If she does this stuff with me right there watching, just imagine what she does behind my back. Ya, she's gotten herself into lots of trouble lately. I'm not sure if I should be proud or nervous!!

Dad's day!

I'm not gonna lie. This summer school schedule is a killer! I thought last semester was hard, but at least I saw my husband a few hours per week. He literally spent 11 hours yesterday at the kitchen table like this.

If Taylor is home, he is literally studying with maybe 5-6 hours of sleep. Then more of the same the next day. One evening Taylor was downstairs in the office doing homework and we called him up for dinner. Every night, every person says what the best part of their day was. Taylor's response?? That he took a 20 minute nap in his car before going into class. SAD! I feel bad. He is making a LOT of sacrifices right now!!

This week the kids did a little prep work for Father's Day.

Then the finished product with the kids! They were so excited to show him everything they'd been working on!! Taylor is a great Father! He is so patient and loving!! Happy Father's Day to all the Dads in my life who are wonderful examples!! Love you all!

Nothing says summer like having a mouth full of watermelon.

I love my house. I love it even more when there's an American Flag in front of it!

This morning we walked to the bakery with some friends. Another check off the summer fun list! It was well worth the exercise!! YUM!

Then, after making the kids help clean the house and eating lunch, we met up with more friends at the swimming pool. I could literally be outside in the sun all day. I love feeling the sun on my skin. The kids had a blast, but then they crashed. Fisher must swallow water cause he needs to pee like every 15 minutes. Ugh! It was hours past Kolbi's nap and she let me know it. Oh well. It was good for a few hours and you better believe we'll be back soon.

We've done a couple of service projects this last week with our ward. First was planting our ward pumpkin patch. Then was our stake garden. We were moving the big rocks off so they can plant a corn field. The kids had tons of fun helping!

I got really sick of the kids complaining that we don't have any good cereal. So we stocked up with 20 boxes! When I text Taylor this picture he responded with, "You're even getting the good kind!!" haha!

Bathroom Redo!

We are staying in this house longer than origanly planned. There really isn't an end in sight either. I'm just great with that too!! I love this area the more I live here! I've been slowing making some changes to make this our home and how I really want it. There are LOTS I'd like to do still... But here is one more project finished! Our master bath. Pretty simple. Painted the cabinets and framed in the mirror. Still hate the lighting, but the builder made a mistake and there are mulitple holes behind the light fixture... it needs sheetrock. Hmmm, some day. But it's still much better!! I LOVE the crisp white!

Summer Bucket List

We have been busily been marking off our summer fun list items. It all started a few hours after school got out. We had a neighboorhood ice cream party! 82 ice cream cones later... I'd say it was a success. I was a little busy to take a picture, but I really regret it now! I decided to take a picture of everything else we do on our list.

Sunday, Taylor saddled up the horses. The neices and nephews got in on the fun too!

Today was a busy day. We started Story Time at the library with a good friend. Fisher was asked to come up and stomp if he was happy and he knew it. It was really cute he called it "stamp"! Kolbi was more interested in the drinking fountain than being in a picture.

After the library, we rushed home to grab some lunch before heading to the $1 theater with another friend. Yep, I paid $6 at the theater to watch something we have at home...

Tomorrow brings more adventures!
