Moms

Moms are the BEST! Mine was in town last weekend. Her plane landed really late so it was a quiet arrival. Usually the kids run up to her cheering "Grandma!!", but it was just me this time. We were actually able to talk in the ride home. Life is always busy when she's here. We run from fun store to fun store (she doesn't have those around).

It was awesome to spend Easter with her and also have her share in Kenadee's birthday. We laugh our heads off when we're together; mostly at each other. I had a friend offer to watch my kids (on a few occasions) so we got some valueable time together. We went to the mall! I know it doesn't sound like a big deal, but with 4 kids, it never happens. I actually bought some clothes from a store that doesn't have a cart when you walk in the front door. I bought one shirt at FULL price. Wow! That was quite the day! I haven't left a store thinking, "I LOVE this shirt!!" in a long time. I feel very cute today wearing my new purchase.

I hope my Mom and I are always good friends. She's the one I turn to for advice (and praise!). I love being around her. She is a lot of fun. Everyone should have a great Mom and I'm lucky cause I actually do!!

Easter fun!

Saturday we had the annual egg hunt with all the Woodruff's. It's so fun to see everyone and the kids could play together for hours and hours.

Some pictures with family!

We had our annual "treasure hunt" to find the Easter baskets. Always a hit!

After naps, we had an Egg hunt in our backyard. The kids were quite surprised when they each got a dollar. (I'm a big spender!)

The evening ended great!! Ribs, ranch mashed potatoes, raspberry jello salad, green beans with bacon, and some fresh watermelon. SO good. I ate way too much!!

All the activities aside, I am so grateful to have the gospel in my life. I feel so blessed for the knowledge and peace it brings to my life. I am so thankful for the Savior's sacrifice and His perfect example to us. Happy Easter!

I can't believe it!

She is 7! It shocks me every year when Kenadee has a birthday. She is getting so grown up and more beautiful every year. It was fun to have my Mom be here for it. Everyone misses out a lot being so far away from my family.
Kenadee had a great day. She requested muffins and poptarts for breakfast. Check!

She opened a few presents immediately.

Then we met Kenadee at the school for lunch. We surprised her with a Happy Meal. When I say my kids NEVER get them, I mean it. It's probably been 5.5 years since she's had a Happy Meal. She was SO happy and surprised.

Off to recess we go! Us adults were a HUGE hit. Little 1st graders who've we've never seen were trying to hold our hands. I felt bad when I brushed them off, but I was there to play with my birthday girl! We played some tag (which was exhausting!), went down the slides, and played on the monkey bars. It was a huge success!!!

After school, the party began. Kenadee chose to pick a few friends and to get their nails painted. One girl could only stay an hour so we played games and had cupcakes before heading out to the salon. Those girls were SO much fun. It was a good choice to pick a few; they didn't hold back at all!! They were so fun and excited at the salon. We had the place to ourselves and their giggles didn't stop. (the employees at the salon asked if K was 1/2 Asian. More and more people are starting to ask. It's so funny to me, but I can see why people think it)

She has grown 2 inches since last year. Crazy!!! Grandma and Grandpa Beck came over in the evening. Why didn't I bust out the camera?? I must have been too involved in our conversation.... I'll make up for it today at the Easter egg hunt. Kenadee got tons of phone calls and texts from family. Thanks everyone for making her feel special today! We love you SO much Kenadee and our lives have been way better with you in them!

Here is some randomness from today. "Somebody" got into the markers while I was on the treadmill. That little smile is so devious!

I had some sewing therapy and made a little toddler dress with a matching diaper cover. SO excited about that!!

I came upstairs, after sewing, and found Jackson like this. Apparently he was a little tired (and wanted his arms IN his shirt). Poor kid!

Spring Break

You might think since it's been a week since my last post, that means we've had an awesome spring break. Ummmm, not so much. Jackson has been sick on and off. I lost my phone (and luckily after a few hours, the lady who had it called to return it). The kids have had some SERIOUS attitude. Who am I kidding? I've had some attitude myself.

I had some letters from magazines cut out and they made some words with them. They did this for a long time. It's cute to the kids' progress the older they get. Fisher had letters glued on in total random order. Jackson had random words. Kenadee had a story with a few sentences.

We dyed our Easter eggs. It tries my patience every year, but they LOVE it!

This little girl is SO active. She goes from one room to the next and climbs up everything she can.
It's crazy how life changes (and your perspective) if you change your attitude. That said, being a Mom is HARD!!! It's not easy to change your attitude. At least it's a challenge for me. We did have lots of good things too this past week. The kids went to bed great almost everyday. The weather was sunny. We saw several friends (one day I saw 3 of MY friends!!) I got news that my Mom will be visiting in 5 days!! She'll be here for Kenadee's birthday and for Easter!

We had some beautiful weather last week. Well, it was overcast but surprisingly not too cold. So went to the park across the street. (Have I mentioned how much I LOVE having park right next my house?!) The kids had a blast and I couldn't stop taking pictures. I only wish I had my real camera and not my phone. Kolbi figured out how to do down the slide all by herself and she didn't slow down. Her face is SO cute! She's so proud of herself!!

Now here we are with our first day of Spring Break and we woke up to more snow. Not quite ideal, but we'll still have a good time!

Daddy-daughter love!

Kenadee came home from school yesterday with some Utah Flash basketball tickets. Last year, I went with her so Taylor was her first request. On his one day where he only works and doesn't have school too, it wasn't his ideal activity, but he did it for her. She was SO excited when he agreed. Even though she kept saying they were going to a Jazz game, she is beyond thrilled to have him all to herself. I know they're having fun and am excited to hear all about it. I'm hoping Taylor didn't get video of the cheerleaders.... (I'm not sure the odds are in my favor!)

This little girl is SO silly and she knows it. Every pair of shoes are now called "boots", and she has to put them on as soon as she wakes up. Just barely as I'm uploading pictures to the computer, she comes out with q-tips in her ears and tells me, "EARS!" She is so fun right now, very different then a few weeks ago.

I had some sewing therapy yesterday. It would have been better if I hadn't Fisher as my shadow; little stinker wouldn't take a nap! I didn't love the dress at first, but the more I see it, the more I like it. I better make a few more as gifts!

After the dress and the kids were watching a movie upstairs, I ran the longest I've ever ran on a treadmill before. It felt good!

Then this morning, for some spiritual therapy, I went to the temple. I haven't done a session in too long. I love the feeling at the temple. It was a well needed moment of meditation.

I feel very happy now!
