UGH!

Ok. It's official. We have really bad luck when it comes to computers

and

losing our pictures.

Yep, it happened.
Again.

I'm not very happy about it.

Here's the story. It makes NO sense to me. Maybe one of you can see the "whole picture" that I'm not seeing. Ok, here goes. We bought our external hard drive two years ago. With in a few weeks of getting it, I erased 8 months worth of pictures. (we backed up the pictures by putting them on discs 8 months prior. And I erased them by unplugging the hard drive instead of 'ejecting' it first...) We could not find those pictures anywhere!
Fast forward till last week. We've been having problems with this same Mac. It was just kinda frozen. Taylor takes it into his IT guy at work. He says the computer is basically toast. He could find some data on it, but no pictures. So the pictures on it are either corrupted or just not there. Not that big a deal; it hadn't been that long since we'd saved pictures to the hard drive.
So Taylor comes home and plugs his work MacBook Pro into our hard drive and the only thing he can find on it is the 8 months of pictures that were lost 2 years ago. Nothing else. Like we never uploaded them on there!

Like I said, it makes no sense to me. He's taking our hard drive into his buddy this next week to see what he can do/see. His friend says that it costs about $800 to have a professional retrieve the pictures. It makes me sick thinking that all those pictures are gone. Especially that my baby was born during that time.

I wasn't gonna even post anything about it, but I want it documented (for some stupid reason). Maybe this is why I've been so on top of adding pictures to the blog the last week. And if you see the "whole picture" here and it's that I'm dumb, those comments are not allowed.

We went to the zoo a few days ago with some friends and had a blast. It was cold, but lots of fun. We saw two small turtles giving each other a "piggy back ride"... Ya! ;) Then the huge ape charged (and hit) the glass window when my kids were pressed up against it. They got SO scared!! That same gorilla then threw up in it's hand and used it's finger from it's other hand as a spoon to eat his throw up. The monkeys were a hoot!
Jackson kept begging me for snacks, literally every 5 minutes or less, the entire 3 hours. Kolbi was a trooper walking almost everywhere and didn't get cranky till we were done. Her hands were pink (I forgot her gloves, oopps!) Fisher and Kenadee were pleasant as always! We always have a great time at the zoo!!

Holidays rule!

With it being President's Day yesterday, we had big plans. Taylor and the kids both didn't have school (or work!). Our day was gonna start off with bowling, then taking the kids out to lunch. Then some naps followed by swimming. Well... it didn't work out quite like that. Taylor woke up with an infection in his eye, so the bowling was replaced by a trip to the doctor. Lunch was a sucess at least. After naps we intended to go bowling, but, they wouldn't take the coupon on a holiday. (I do nothing without a coupon!). SO, next best thing last minute was...

Followed by some ice cream! The kids love the self-serve places where you pay by the ounce; they have tons of add-on treats. And oh, the stuff they ruin their ice cream with!

All in all, it was a fun family day. That being said, I'm SO glad to have them back in school. It was a cold, long 3 days of having the kids inside.

Getting older

We took Kolbi to get her first real haircut this morning. I was gonna take her to the girl that does my hair when I needed one, but we couldn't stand it any longer. It was desperately needed! Her cute little bob makes her hair look so much fuller. She wouldn't sit on the boosters, so I was the lucky one got got to be in the background of the pictures. She pouted for a minute with her lip out, but did really, really good.

I gave the kids their lunch, then hopped in the shower. Not sure it was the best idea I've had. (I did give her a spoon...)

Heart Day

I know I'm a little late to post about Valentines Day. My computer is totally broken and Taylor's hardly home for me to use his computer. Blah, blah, blah!

Valentines Day is so exciting for kids. Oh, the cute memories I have. The cute boy giving you the valentine that says "love" on it. Trying to pick the perfect card to give to him.... So much fun!!

After the school parties were over, we made some Valentine ginger bread houses. A good thought, but I wonder most of the time why I try to do fun things for the kids. The gingerbread houses were a disaster!!! I didn't take an after picture... I was exhausted and sent the kids downstairs to play. Oh well, I tried.

The day ended great. I didn't think I'd even see Taylor. He had test the next day, so he took a vacation day from work and spend the day up on campus studying. No work after, so he came home! Wahoo!! He walked in the door with one of my favorite milk shakes. I know, it's so simple, but isn't that what love is about?! We are crazy poor with tuition, but having Taylor be home and a yummy dessert was just what I needed. Love you, babe!

Everyone's been sick lately, so we have been laying low and trying to find some simple joys.

I made Kenadee's apron for Christmas and of course, the boys requested one too. Check! Now they love to help in the kitchen!

With Taylor gone all day, the kids aren't allowed to watch tv until after dinner. That is when I start hitting my wall and when I really need a break. Lucky for me, all the kids like watching shows and this how my nights end.

Big bulls, big bucks!

Yep, I guess we are one of those white trash families that go to the Hunting Expo. Taylor's brother was at our house when I pulled in from the gym this morning. He has some passes and Taylor was talking about it yesterday. So off we went. It was kinda fun, I'll admit. I can definitely respect the work it takes to find those bucks.

This little girl missed half of the party, but after waking up and eating a snack she managed to throw up. Wow, SO not cool. I heard her, stopped pushing the stroller and was able to catch a bunch in my hands. Lucky me. I yell up to Taylor to stop walking; he didn't realize what I was doing, so just froze and was waiting for me to catch up. haha! Thank goodness we had tons of wet wipes and we were right next to a garbage can. And at least it didn't happen in front of a LOT of people... oh wait! Kolbi got stripped down to her diaper and sat there snuggled up in Tay's fleece jacket. Yuck!!

There was a mechanical bull there and of course the kids wanted a turn on that thing. Not me, no thank you! No one wants to this thing giggle like that!! The bull was being controlled by the National Guard and they made sure to make it buck real slow for the kids. They loved it. Their sweet faces say it all!

Our one family shot. Awww!
(I came straight from the gym; don't judge!)

My boys!

This little boy is a MESS! Sometimes in the naughty way; sometimes not.

Let me set the scene for you. So, yesterday I took the kids to the pool. We brought our suits and put them on in the locker room, so the kids would have warm clothes to walk to and from the car. I put the kids in some stalls to put their suits on, and I start changing Kolbi on the towel on the ground. Well, a couple of teenage girls walk in and stand directly across from us, chatting as they get into their lockers. Jackson, skinny and shirtless, pushes past Kenadee to be the closest to the teenagers. He gives them a smile and says, "Hellooo ladies!" SO TRUE! I about died from laughing so hard!! That kid is just like his Dad!

I wish I could say I had a less embarrassing story about Fisher. Not the case, at all! Now, we are out of the pool and the kids are in the stall redressing. The boys are in together, Kenadee's in her own, and Kolbi is with me. I call to the next stalls to see if everyone is doing ok. They all say yes, and Fisher says he has to go the bathroom. It sounded like he was out of the stall from the direction his voice was coming; so I tell him to hold on a minute and that I'll help him when I'm done. A few minutes go by and he tells me again that he has to go the bathroom. Kenadee walks out about 5 seconds before me; cause when I walk out I see my NAKED 3 year old waiting against the stall with teenage girls walking all around him and staring with huge eyes. I see K pick up her towel and try to cover him up. Her face was priceless!! 25% shocked and 75% laughter! Again, I about died!! (he too, just like his Dad)

So thank you boys for the many laughs yesterday!!!
