Crazy coupon lady!

I love saving money! Even better when it's stuff you genuinely need. (okay, other than the cookies!) Here is what I bought today:
4 boxes Mac and Cheese
3 Velvetta Cups
3 bags Goldfish crackers
8 packages Philadelphia cream cheese
3 bags of tortillas
2 cans of diced tomatoes
3 packages of paper plates (60 plates total)
1 bag frosted animal cookies
1 gallon chocolate milk
2 packages of Keebler cookies
1 box of dishwasher detergent
12 oz. of sliced provolone
12 bags of shredded cheese

All 44 items for:
$4.40 out of pocket!!
I did have a gift card and store credit from transferring a prescription, but I am still quite impressed with myself! This was an easy sale and I was able to get all prepared during naps yesterday. It's about time to get some deals since Albertsons closed.

It Won't Be Like This For Long

I feel like my priorities haven't been in the right spot lately. There is always so much to do. I think I have to do everything, and do everything well. This last week I've tried to enjoy life more. I've slowed down. I've stayed home more. I'm always so focused on getting "the good deal." I need to realize what really matters in life. And that is my family. I need to tell them I love them more. (immediate and extended family) I need to show my kids that I love them. It's a little embarrassing to admit, but I don't play on the ground with my kids very often. I struggle with Barbies. I don't have that imagination anymore.

BUT:

These days are going to fly by. Soon my kids won't want to play with me. They'll be begging to leave the house. Their friends will have the most influence (and hopefully they'll pick good friends!) But right now they love me and want me around. They think I have all the answers. It won't stay like this for long. I want to take advantage of it best I can. So this morning I did. I got my snow clothes on and played in the new snow with my kids while Kolbi slept. (Taylor is at work) It is the simplest thing. I really am embarrassed that I haven't done it yet this season. They loved the sled. I enjoyed myself, honestly! I have some funny kids!!! They were a joy to be around. Hopefully their good mood will last all day long!
Right now we have kids in all the phases. A baby, a toddler, a preschooler, and a grade schooler. Kolbi isn't going to be a baby for very long at all. Soon she won't want to snuggle; she'll be busy crawling and walking. It will happen soon. In the meantime, I want to hold her and see her face light up when our eyes meet. I want to soak in and remember her baby stage.
Having 4 young kids is hard. Really hard! It tries my patience everyday. But this is my life. I love my life! I have been so blessed!!!

The Family Punching Bag

Well, Jackson got it again. Fisher threw "Kenadee's toy dog that moves" and split Jack's lip open. (I would have loved to see how that toy could do so much damage) Thank goodness for after hour clinics; I hope to never pay for an ER visit! Sure enough it needed stitches, and was 1/2 mm away from a plastic surgern. Whew!! I'm so glad Taylor goes to the office when these happen; I'm not sure I could consol a child well enough to stay away from sedation at the hospital. Luckily Jackson told the truth when the nurse asked if it was Dad or Mom. Not the moment to be the funny guy. Good choice bud!
The day before this happened apartently Jackson wasn't helping pick up the playdough. So what is the logical thing to do? Well, if I was Kenadee, I would hit him with the broom. Leaving a skinned ear and a goose egg behind the ear. Ya, Jack is the family punching bag.

4 months

Kolbi had her 4 month appointment yesterday. Apparently she is like her Dad because the most crying happened when the Dr. looked in her ears. Taylor has a "thing" with stuff in his ears (other than q-tips).

Here are her stats:
13 lbs. 15 oz
24.25"

Here are the others' stats at their 4 month checkup:

Kenadee
12 #
24"

Jackson
12# 1 oz.
25"

Fisher
14#
25"

Kolbi looks a lot like Kenadee did, but on the chubbier side, like Fisher was. Mmmmm I love her!!! She is sleeping thru the night consistently now and is squealing like crazy. She is a happy, happy girl!

Baby Making Machines!

We finally got together with our good friends, the McAdams, last night. They are such a fun family and the night was full of laughs. (maybe a few swear words thrown in here and there during a card game.) I had to get a picture of Jayna and I with our combined 9 kids!! WOW! That is a lot!!
From L-R: Me, Avie, Kenadee, Beck, Rhylan, Zaden, Remy, Jackson, Kolbi, Fisher, and Jayna. That many names makes me feel like a polygamist. Yes, I am aware that Kolbi is almost the size of her 9 month old triplets. Did I get the names right, Jayna?!

Fisher is a sweet kid! Man, I love that little boy!! He is such a joy to have around. He has become a little defiant lately, but still WAY easier than a 5 year old girl!!
Three times this week, as we were driving around town, he saw this big smoke stack (or whatever it is). He announced "TEMPLE!" "TEMPLE, MOM!!" Okay, really not even close, but coming from a 2 year old's mouth, it was so precious!! He is soaking up information like crazy.

I told him that I wanted a picture of him only in his skivies. This is how he pouts:

He is fully potty-trained now and has had probably 2 accidents in the last 2 weeks! I am so happy to have that behind us and only ONE in diapers!!

Kolbi is just as sweet as can be! She still wakes up in the night 5 out of 7 days a week. Good thing it only takes her binkie to put her right back to sleep. Naps aren't the best either. She is starting to love toys but still prefers a smiling family face! Notice the cute slippers, Auntie Courtney!!

New Year=New Hair

I kept saying that I would update the blog "tomorrow." I will have more time tomorrow. Lesson learned. I will never have enough time. Prioritize and make time for what is important.

On New Year's Kenadee requested to go to the "boy restaurant" . "You know. The place when it's your birthday you sit on the horse!" Oh, Texas Roadhouse!! The kids haven't been to a real restaurant in long time and they acted surprisingly well. Until Kenadee flirted with our server that is... At least my girl knows how!

Jackson is a sweet boy! He loves having Kolbi around!!
Kenadee was growing her hair out for "Locks of Love", but after too many huge tangles (and a ZuZu pet getting caught in it) she had enough and wanted to cut it. I was sick of all the whining too! So here is her before:
And After: it will take a while to get use to it, but I like it!

Taylor asked who the obese person on my camera was. It is our sweet girly! She is on the chubby side, but is super happy!!

Taylor also shaved his head. He thought he was getting too bald. So shaved will be his new permanent style. I like it on him. I also cut a few inches off and have a few long bangs. Never thought I'd have bangs again. And while we were at new hair, I put Kolbi's into a single piggy tail on top of her head. Not many babies have enough hair to do that. We tried MANY times to get a picture of us 4 with our new cuts. Taylor looked like he was taking a mug shot. I looked like a chipmunk. The below picture is the ONLY decent one of me. Enjoy.

Notice Kolbi's cute hair. Taylor thinks she looks Chinese. I like it. I do her hair, which means I win.
